President's letter from Randy Johnson, September, 2007

Guys -

The club has agreed to help the City of Georgetown by providing a couple of fly casting instructors for their Outdoor Family Workshop on Saturday, September 22nd. This is a program where people sign up (and pay) for various outdoor related classes, and the city has volunteer instructors in 13 different activities, including fly casting. We also helped them last year.

There are a total of 13 students signed up, in two sessions:

Session 3 from 1:00 – 2:15 PM (9 students)

Session 4 from 2:30 – 3:45 PM (4 students now, maybe a few more)

They will feed us lunch if we get there by 11:45 that morning. The clinic will be at Booty’s Road Park Pavilion, just downstream from the dam at Lake Georgetown, on the hike and bike trail. We have to assume that none of the students have any experience, and you should plan to bring a fly rod or two, since we won’t know how many will have equipment. If you can’t participate as an instructor, but would be willing to donate the use of a rod (one of your more inexpensive ones), let me know that as well.

Please reply to this email or call me at 512-868-2545 if you can help as an instructor, or to provide a rod or two for us to use. Also call me with any questions.

Thanks,

Randy
