President's letter for November from Brooks Bouldin

Next month's meeting will be our second annual Christmas party on Tuesday, December 5th at 6:30 pm. We have a wonderful, fun-filled program planned this year. Tickets are $22.00 and include a seated dinner. There will be a cash bar, as well.

If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, contact Randy Johnson at his office (868-2545) or via E-mail no later than Monday, November 27th.. Be sure to let him know if you want the chicken or beef (see attached menu). We will have a silent auction to help you stuff someone's stocking this Christmas, maybe even your own. Don't miss this, our most special event of the year.

The Sun City Hunting and Fishing Club, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and the Corps of Engineers are sponsoring a project to place 200 juniper trees in Lake Georgetown to form brush piles as habitat for fish. The event is scheduled for January 8th and 10th. On the 8th, trees will be cut in Russell Park and transported to the boat ramp; then, on the 10th, concrete blocks will be attached to bunches of trees and dropped into the lake from a barge provided by the Corps of Engineers.

Our members are invited to join in the fun. This is an opportunity to participate in a valuable service to the community and to learn where the fish will gather in the future. Lunch will be provided both days. The dates will be pushed back a week if the weather is bad. If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact Bill Mateja, (512) 863-7273 via E-mail. Wear appropriate work clothing and boots and bring work gloves. Bring safety glasses if you plan to work with a chain saw. There will be a variety of jobs for everyone. You won't be asked to do anything more strenuous than you are comfortable with.

Our thanks to the Sun City group, the Corps and TP&W for their contributions to this effort.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving,

Brooks
