Looking upstream toward Hwy 95

After you turn off of Hwy 95 onto CR 347 and go about 0.6 miles, you will see a small Corps of Engineers sign on the south side of the road. This sign marks the start of a rough trail that descends from the road down to the level of the river. The trail is steep and contains several sections of "hiking trail" type steps, constructed from logs backfilled with dirt; these steps give this place its local name - "The Steps". There is no parking lot, you have to park on the side of CR 347. At normal lake levels this place is not far above the junction of the San Gabriel’s moving water with Granger Lake’s slack water.

This place is very popular during the annual white bass run; the fishing can be somewhat crowded.
