Gabriel River at the dam in San Gabriel Park

Links

Description

The dam in San Gabriel Park forms a small lake whose slack water extends upstream in the park for about a half mile upstream, to the point where the North and South forks of the San Gabriel join at the upper end of the park. At the upper end of the park there is a parking lot not far from a foot bridge; this is a good place to launch a kayak or canoe.

On the downstream side of the dam the river can be waded for about a half mile before coming to a pool that is too deep to wade.
