North Fork of San Gabriel at Ronald Reagan Blvd.

Description

The portion of the extension of Parmer Lane, known as Ronald Reagan Blvd., that runs between Hwy 29 and North Lake Road (CR 3405) crosses the North Fork of the San Gabriel River above Lake Georgetown, upstream from Tejas Park. The bridge provides an access point for the river. On the west side of the road and just on the north side of the bridge there is a dirt road that goes down under the bridge. Actually it is not a road, just a rutted path made by people driving on the grass; it is easily passable in dry weather, but I wouldn't chance it when it is muddy – at least not without a four wheel drive vehicle. There is plenty of room to park under the bridge, and it is only a short scramble down to the river. The river along here is like other portions of the North Fork; fairly long shallow stretches between occasional pools.

According to Google Earth, it is about 1.7 river miles down to Tejas Park, the next access point down stream, and about 1.3 river miles up to the County Road 257 bridge, the next access point upstream.
