Description
There are multiple miles of good wadeable water both upstream and downstream, with many pools, runs and riffles to fish. Here is a link to TPWD’s description of the slab.

On the weekends the slab gets many visitors, some of whom are drinking. There have been reports of cars being burgled or vandalized when parked near the slab. I have seen several people on internet forums suggest that Long’s fishing camp (phone (325)388-6131, Google Maps Link) offers a safe place to park (for a small fee), better fishing, and fewer people. Long’s is on CR 321, a dirt road, off of RR 1431 between Hw 29 and Kingsland. The junction of CR 321 with RR 1431 is about 1.5 miles south of Hw 29. There is a sign advertising Long’s Camp at this intersection. Turn west onto CR 321 and follow the signs, about 0.7 miles, to Long’s.
