Faith and I continue our exploration of the local water. Sunday, we tried Lake LBJ. We launched the canoe from the Kingsland Community Park ramp and slid across to the south west shore line. from the Kingsland Community Park to the opposite shoreline, past the FM 2990 bridge almost to the turn of the river heading up to the slab distance about 1.5 miles each way.......lots of paddling

In general, the lake is not very deep but that bank seemed to have enough of a drop-off to make the Jon Luke Flippin Fly effective. We also fished some Olive over White and Olive over Yellow, Thunder Creek Streamers in sizes six and four. They were effective being pulled from shore over the drop and across some of the submerged rock piles. Faith hooked a very nice Crappie, but hung it on a jug-line..... I got a quick look before he made his exit and he would have made a good photo....... Sometimes the fish win.........

I thought the water should have been more productive, but as the weather warms, it may get better. We also tried the foam frog and fished smaller spider and foam hopper patterns in the shallow coves. Each of these patterns were successful too.

Faith is really getting creative with our lunches and Sunday was a real treat.......Salami and Turkey sandwiches with a shrimp & Pasta Salad and white wine to wash it all down. We also had plenty of water............a good thing when you are paddling

One Additional Note: We lost the paddles on the way up but were saved when Mark and Sandy Lewis of Llanorado Lodge let us borrow a kayak paddle from them. We returned it at the end of the day and shared the photos of our day with them....They were super-nice and deserve our patronage whenever we are there.....So, next time you are in Kingsland stop in.
